A. We have two offset printing facilities; one in Ann Arbor, Michigan and one in Lillington, North Carolina.  We also have six Digital Book Centers located throughout the U.S. and UK.  If you would like to arrange a tour of our offset facilities, please contact your sales or customer service representative. Centrally located in the Midwest, we are a short shipping distance away from many distributors’ warehouses. Visit Us!

A. Yes, Edwards Brothers Malloy offers a POD solution to publishers.  This requires that an EDI connection be set up between you and Edwards Brothers Malloy systems.  You can learn more about our Print On Demand offerings here.

A. We currently provide limited design and production services for a reprint of a title we have the original files for. We encourage you to check with your Sales or Service Rep and if we cannot provide the services you require, we will recommend a number of design and production providers who can.

A. Our standard schedules for titles printed via traditional offset are 3 weeks for soft cover and 4 weeks for hard cover (adhesive casebound). However, depending on whether or not you will be seeing proofs and other factors, we can often shorten the standard schedule. Our standard schedule for DSR is five days. For either method you choose, we can expedite schedules for an additional fee.

A. There are a number of ways to get an estimate for your title from Edwards Brothers Malloy. For those who like the 24/7 advantages of conducting business online, we have myEBMalloy. Once you are signed up for this service (all it takes is a call to your sales or service rep), you can do your own estimates online with immediate quotations available for your titles. If your title cannot be immediately estimated online, you can still submit your specifications online and within 24 hours, you will receive your quotation. If you prefer to talk to or email a sales or service rep, they will be happy to take your specifications and get an estimate out to you.
A. There are usually a number of ways to lower the initial price for your book. One of the most commonly used is to look at alternative papers. We stock a wide range of papers, with multiple options in each grade; therefore, we are often successful in finding a lower priced sheet that is equivalent to your first choice. Other ways include working with your sales or service rep to optimize the trim size and page count to better utilize our equipment, choosing an alternative cover finishing method, adjusting your print quantity, or a number of other options. We encourage you to work with us to maximize the value that you receive from Edwards Brothers Malloy.

A. Edwards Brothers Malloy provides full service Fulfillment services in addition to our standard shipping services. By shipping directly from us to your customers, you save precious time and money. We regularly do drop shipments as titles are completed in addition to bulk shipments to the customer or warehouse. If you do not have a distributor, warehouse, or fulfillment provider, Edwards Brothers Malloy can provide storage and fulfillment services.

A. Our customers must obtain their own ISBN’s. Once you have the ISBN, Edwards Brothers Malloy can produce the necessary bar code to use on your book. Read our ISBN and Bar Code Fact Sheet for more information or check out this blog post on the topic.

A. Yes, we offer soft proofs for both text and cover. Soft proofs are transmitted electronically usually through a web-based portal. We don’t encourage emailing soft proofs because of the increased risk of corrupted files, especially when the files are large as in the case of a color cover. Soft proofs for color components however, should not be used for contract color because of differences in monitor output. They can be used for content and positioning checks.

A. We carry a wide range of papers including recycled sheets. As a matter of fact, all of our uncoated text stock choices are either recycled, FSC certified or SFI certified.

A. Our myEBMalloy online service center is your source of real time, 24/7 information about your title. You can view the status of your job at any time. The data is updated numerous times each day. For those not in the Eastern Time Zone or those that are working during non-business hours, this is an especially handy tool.

A. We have been tracking this situation and have been very involved with the publishers and printers that are concerned about its impact on our industry. In addition to maintaining an informational page on our website, we also have contributed to an industry website hosted by R.R. Donnelley. We are confident in telling our customers that we produce books that are 100% compliant with the requirements of the CPSIA. Visit our CPSIA information page now.
